The ten washing machines worth buying between ₹10,000 and ₹30,000, picked from 20 current models on manufacturer specs, warranty terms and prices we checked on 25 October 2026.
For most homes, buy the Samsung WA70BG4441YY (₹17,490): a 7 kg inverter top load with a 5 star rating and a 10 year motor warranty. If your water is hard, the IFB TL701AG1ID adds water treatment and four years of cover for about ₹1,000 more.
Want a front load? The LG FHB1207Z2W (₹27,490) is the best under ₹30,000. On a tight budget, the Whirlpool Magic Clean 7 kg semi automatic costs ₹10,190.

Best overall
Top load
Samsung 7 kg Ecobubble Top Load
7 kg, Digital Inverter, 5 star and a 10 year motor warranty for ₹17,490.
The safest default for a family of three or four. Samsung pairs a Digital Inverter motor with a 5 star rating and its Ecobubble wash, and the soft close glass lid and Magic Filter make daily use easy. At ₹17,490 it undercuts LG's comparable 7 kg inverter top load by ₹1,500.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: The best balance of price, efficiency and warranty between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000.
#2Best for hard waterTop load
IFB DeepClean 7 kg Top Load with Aqua Energie
Model TL701AG1ID · Top load · 7 kg
If your water leaves white marks on taps and buckets, this is the top load to look at. IFB builds in Aqua Energie, its hard water treatment, next to an Eco Inverter motor, and covers the machine for four years, double what most rivals offer. Vijay Sales had it at ₹18,490, about ₹500 under Flipkart.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: Worth the ₹1,000 over the Samsung if hard water or warranty length matters to you.
#3Best front loadFront load
LG 7 kg Steam Front Load
Model FHB1207Z2W · Front load · 7 kg
The front load we would buy under ₹30,000. LG's Inverter Direct Drive motor, 1200 rpm spin and steam Allergy Care cycle are the features that justify a front load, and at 440 mm deep it fits balconies and narrow utility spaces that rule out most rivals. Flipkart had it at ₹27,490.
Specifications from LG's product page. The two year product warranty and the heater line are from the Flipkart listing; LG states the 10 year motor warranty and the 95°C wash temperature
What we like
1200 rpm spin, so clothes come out with less water than from the 700 to 740 rpm top loads here
Wash temperatures up to 95°C from a cold water connection, plus a steam Allergy Care cycle
Only 440 mm deep, 600 mm wide and 850 mm tall
Inverter Direct Drive motor with a 10 year motor warranty
What could be better
Needs 890 mm of depth with the door open, so measure with the door swing in mind
Product warranty is two years, per the Flipkart listing; IFB's front loads get four
No WiFi or app control
Buy it if
Small and medium families short on space who want gentler fabric care, warm washes and faster drying.
Skip it if
The floor where it will stand is not solid and level, or you would rather load from the top without bending.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: A well rounded front load for little more than a premium top load.
#4Best top load with a heaterTop load
Whirlpool Magic Clean Pro SW 7 kg with Heater
Model Magic Clean Pro SW 7.0 (H) · Top load · 7 kg
Heaters are rare in top loads at this price, and that is the reason to pick this Whirlpool. It offers Warm, Hot and Allergen Free modes, a Hard Water Wash programme and Whirlpool's Stainwash cycle for ₹17,990 on Flipkart. The catch: Whirlpool does not say whether the motor is an inverter.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: The value pick if warm water washing matters to you.
#5Best for large familiesTop load
Samsung 8 kg Ecobubble Top Load
Model WA80BG4441BG · Top load · 8 kg
For five or more people, or anyone washing bedsheets and blankets every week, the extra kilo matters more than any feature. This is the 8 kg version of our top pick in exactly the same 540 × 568 × 988 mm cabinet, for ₹2,000 more at ₹19,490.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: The simplest way to get 8 kg from a major brand for under ₹20,000.
#6Best valueSemi automatic
Whirlpool Magic Clean 7 kg Semi Automatic
Model Magic Clean 7.0 Grey Dazzle · Semi automatic · 7 kg
If you are happy to move clothes from the wash tub to the spin tub yourself, nothing on this list costs less. At ₹10,190 on Flipkart it spins at 1400 rpm, faster than any fully automatic top load here, and adds a collar scrubber and a Max Dry mode.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: The cheapest machine from a major brand that we would still recommend.
#7Lowest price fully automaticTop load
Whirlpool Magic Clean 6.5 kg Top Load
Model Magic Clean 6.5 GenX · Top load · 6.5 kg
The cheapest fully automatic machine from a major brand that we could verify, at ₹15,990 on Flipkart. It includes a Hard Water Wash programme, 10 water levels and Zero Pressure Fill, and at 870 mm it is the shortest top load here. The motor is not an inverter, and it is covered for five years rather than ten.
Specifications from Whirlpool's product page. Whirlpool does not state the motor type; it is from the Flipkart listing. Whirlpool's model reference is 31659

IFB is the front load brand to consider if your water is hard. The Serena GXN 7012 combines Aqua Energie with Power Steam, a 1200 rpm spin, wash temperatures up to 95°C and WiFi control, and IFB covers it for four years. Flipkart had it at ₹29,490, about ₹5,600 below IFB's own store.
Prices change often, sometimes daily. The listing at the retailer is the only price that counts.
Bottom line: Worth the extra over the LG if hard water or warranty length is your main worry.
#9Best 8 kg front loadFront load
Bosch Series 2 8 kg Front Load
Model WAJ28260IN · Front load · 8 kg
The most capacity and the fastest spin you can get in a front load under ₹30,000. Bosch's Series 2 machine handles 8 kg at up to 1400 rpm, includes an Allergy Plus programme and SpeedPerfect, and Bosch rates it at 53 dB while washing. Its product page leaves out the heater and energy rating, so those come from the Flipkart listing.

Fully automatic top loads are the default for most Indian homes for good reason. They are the cheapest machines that run a whole wash on their own, you load them standing up, and their 540 mm width fits most bathrooms. The weak spot is spin: 700 to 740 rpm on this list, so clothes come out wetter than from a front load.
Front loads cost about ₹10,000 more than a typical top load here. In return every one on this list has a heater, spins at 1200 rpm or more and offers steam or allergy programmes. They need a solid, level floor and room for the door to open: 890 mm of depth for the LG and 1073 mm for the Bosch.
Semi automatics are the cheapest way to wash and the cheapest way to get a big drum: the 10 kg Whirlpool costs less than any fully automatic machine here. You fill the wash tub, then lift the wet clothes into the spin tub yourself, and they take the most floor space.
Which capacity do you need?
Capacity: what brands suggest, and our budget view
Household
LG and Samsung suggest
Our budget view
1 to 2 people
6 to 7 kg (LG), about 7 kg (Samsung)
6.5 to 7 kg
3 to 4 people
8 to 10 kg (both)
7 kg if you wash most days, 8 kg if you wash in big batches or wash bedding
5 or more
10 kg and up (LG), 11 kg and up (Samsung)
8 kg fully automatic washed daily, or a 10 kg semi automatic
Brands size generously, and their guides also sell bigger machines. For a feel of what fits: Samsung says a 7 kg drum takes 9 to 10 bath towels, and IFB's weight chart puts a double cotton bedsheet at about 1 kg and a pair of jeans at 400 g. If you are between two sizes, take the bigger one.
Inverter motor: does it matter?
An inverter motor adjusts its speed to the load instead of running at one fixed speed. Brands sell this as quieter, more efficient running. Every machine on this list is listed as 5 star either way, so the energy label will not show you a big difference.
The difference you can actually check is the warranty. The Samsung, IFB and LG machines on this list, all with inverter motors, carry 10 year motor warranties. The two machines with confirmed non inverter motors, the Whirlpool Magic Clean 6.5 kg and the Magic Clean 7 kg semi automatic, get five years.
What the BEE star rating tells you
Every washing machine sold in India now has to carry a BEE star label. Washing machines are on the mandatory list of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency's labelling regulations that took effect on 1 January 2026, and the label has to be shown on online listings as well as in shops.
The stars are based on electricity used per kilo of clothes per wash (kWh/kg/cycle), not per year. The label prints that figure along with the machine type, capacity and model, plus a QR code you can scan, or look up in BEE's Star Label app, to confirm the rating is registered.
Two things the label will not tell you are water use and yearly running cost. And because BEE rates top loads and semi automatics on a 30°C cotton programme but front loads on a 60°C one, compare stars within one type, not across types.
All ten machines here are listed as 5 star, so the label will not separate them. Capacity, features and warranty will.
Hard water: what actually helps
If your taps and buckets get white, crusty marks, your water is hard. LG says the deposits shorten the life of the drum and seals, and IFB says limescale leaves spots that fade clothes.
The manufacturers agree on the basics. Dose detergent for your water (LG advises using more in hard water), add a water softening agent where hardness is high, and run the tub clean programme regularly: LG suggests about once a month with anti limescale powder, while Samsung and IFB remind you every 40 washes.
Some machines go further. IFB's Aqua Energie treats the water to deactivate calcium so detergent works better. IFB pitches it as preventing limescale spots on clothes rather than as protection for the machine. The Whirlpool picks here have a Hard Water Wash programme instead.
Low water pressure and overhead tanks
A fully automatic machine fills through a valve that needs a minimum water pressure. LG and Samsung manuals give a range of 50 to 800 kPa (0.5 to 8 kgf/cm²) for both their top and front loads, and IFB specifies 0.3 to 10 bar.
Below that, things go wrong. Samsung warns that under 50 kPa a front load's water valve may not close completely, or the drum may take so long to fill that the machine switches itself off.
If you live on a top floor fed by an overhead tank, pressure at the tap can be weak. LG's buying guide suggests checking your building's pressure, or fitting a booster pump, before you buy. On this list, the Whirlpool top loads have Zero Pressure Fill, which Whirlpool says lets them fill when pressure is low.
Drying clothes in the monsoon
In the rains, how much water stays in the clothes after the spin decides whether they dry by evening or smell by morning. Faster spin wrings out more; LG's own manual notes that its slow spin programmes leave clothes wetter.
On this list the top loads spin at 700 to 740 rpm, while the front loads and the two semi automatics reach 1200 to 1400 rpm. BEE sets the same minimum for every type: after the spin, clothes may hold no more than 75% of their dry weight in water.
If you dry indoors for half the year, spin speed is the best reason to choose a front load or a semi automatic over a top load. The trade off, as IFB notes, is that slower spins crease delicate fabrics less, which is why good machines let you lower the speed.
Placement, noise and vibration
Most noise and "walking" problems start with the floor, not the machine. Manufacturers want a hard, flat, level surface: LG allows a slope of just 1 degree under its top loads and warns never to level a machine with wood or cardboard, and Samsung says not to stand a top load on a platform or bricks.
Leave about 10 cm behind the machine. LG, Samsung and IFB all ask for it, plus a little space at the sides (LG says 2 cm).
Front loads need room in front for the door. Samsung asks for 550 mm of clearance in an alcove, and the LG on this list needs 890 mm of depth in total with its door open.
Check the drain. A front load's drain hose usually needs to sit 60 to 100 cm above the floor (Samsung says 60 to 90 cm, LG up to 100 cm), while LG's top loads drain to a floor outlet.
Have the machine installed by the brand's authorised technician. LG and Bosch tie the warranty to it, and Samsung does not cover fixing a bad installation later.
Only Bosch publishes a noise figure among the machines here: 53 dB(A) while washing for the WAJ28260IN. The others do not, so treat any "silent" claim on a listing with care.
Warranty and service, decoded
Washing machine warranties come in two layers. The first two to four years cover the whole machine, apart from listed plastic parts and consumables. The long motor warranty covers only the motor as a part: LG says its motor years exclude the circuit board, clutch, inlet valve and drain motor, and LG and Bosch charge for the technician's visit and labour in those years.

Two changes worth knowing. Samsung cut its Digital Inverter motor warranty from 20 years to 10 for machines bought from 1 April 2026, so older reviews quoting 20 years are out of date. And Bosch's published terms give entry front loads 2 years plus 10 years on the motor, while the Flipkart listing for the WAJ28260IN says 12, so confirm with the seller.
Common exclusions at LG, Samsung and Bosch: rodent damage, abnormal voltage, commercial use, plastic and glass parts, and repairs by anyone other than an authorised technician. Bosch also excludes damage caused by unsuitable detergent.
Installation: LG offers one free installation or demo within three months of purchase, Samsung within six. Extra hoses, fittings and plumbing work are chargeable.
IFB stands out on support: four years on the machine, ten on the motor and, it says, ten years of spare parts availability.
What it really costs to own
For a budget machine the price on the listing is most of the cost, but not all of it.
Purchase: ₹10,190 to ₹29,990 for the machines on this list, as checked on 25 October 2026.
Installation: free once with most brands, but plan for an extra hose, a tap adaptor or plumbing work, which you pay for.
Electricity, a worked example: IFB states 0.07 kWh per kg per cycle for the Serena GXN 7012. A full 7 kg load is about 0.49 kWh, so at an assumed ₹8 per unit and five full washes a week, that is roughly ₹1,000 a year. Heating the water drives that figure. For comparison, BEE's 2019 star table capped a 5 star top load at 0.0132 kWh per kg per cycle on its 30°C test, about a seventh of the front load number.
Detergent: IFB's guidance is about 25 g for a full load at normal hardness, more if your water is hard.
Upkeep: tub clean cycles and, for hard water, descaling powder or a softener.
Repairs after the comprehensive warranty: visit and labour charges apply even while the motor itself is still covered.
What not to pay extra for
Common buying mistakes
Our final recommendation
If you want one answer, buy the Samsung WA70BG4441YY. Then adjust for your home:
Hard water: the IFB TL701AG1ID, or the IFB Serena GXN 7012 if you want a front load.
Warm washes for stains, uniforms or allergies: the Whirlpool Magic Clean Pro SW 7 kg, the only top load here with a heater.
Five or more people: the Samsung WA80BG4441BG, or the Whirlpool Ace XL 10 kg on a tight budget.
Drying indoors or short on depth: the LG FHB1207Z2W front load.
Under ₹12,000: the Whirlpool Magic Clean 7 kg semi automatic.
Whichever you choose, check the live price, the seller and the installation terms on the listing before you pay. Prices on this page were correct on 25 October 2026 and will move.
Questions people ask
Which budget washing machine is best in India right now?
For most homes, the Samsung WA70BG4441YY at ₹17,490 (checked 25 October 2026). It is a 7 kg, 5 star top load with a Digital Inverter motor and a 10 year motor warranty. If you have hard water, pick the IFB TL701AG1ID; if you want a front load, the LG FHB1207Z2W.
Which washing machine is best under ₹15,000?
No fully automatic machine from a major brand passed our checks under ₹15,000, so the best options are semi automatic: the Whirlpool Magic Clean 7 kg at ₹10,190, or the Whirlpool Ace XL 10 kg at ₹14,930 for big families. The cheapest fully automatic pick is the Whirlpool Magic Clean 6.5 kg at ₹15,990.
Which washing machine is best under ₹20,000?
The Samsung WA70BG4441YY (₹17,490) for most families, the IFB TL701AG1ID (₹18,490) for hard water and a four year warranty, the Whirlpool Magic Clean Pro SW 7 kg (₹17,990) if you want a heater, and the Samsung WA80BG4441BG (₹19,490) if you need 8 kg.
Should I buy a top load or a front load?
A top load if you want the lowest price for a fully automatic machine and easy loading. A front load if you can spend about ₹10,000 more and want faster spin (1200 rpm and up on this list), a heater and gentler washing, and you have a level floor and room for the door to open.
Is a 6 or 6.5 kg machine enough for a family of four?
Only if you wash small loads every day. LG and Samsung both suggest 8 to 10 kg for three or four people. We think 7 kg works for daily washing and 8 kg if you wash in big batches or wash bedding at home. A 6.5 kg drum will mean more cycles.
Which washing machine is best for hard water?
On this list, the IFB TL701AG1ID top load and the IFB Serena GXN 7012 front load, both with IFB's Aqua Energie treatment. The Whirlpool Magic Clean Pro and Magic Clean 6.5 kg have a Hard Water Wash programme. Whatever you buy, dose detergent for your water and run tub clean regularly.
Which washing machine uses less electricity?
Check the energy figure on the BEE label, which is printed in kWh per kg per cycle, and compare machines of the same type. Washes that heat water use far more power than cold washes, so a front load on a hot programme costs more to run than a top load on a cold one. All ten machines here are listed as 5 star.
Is an inverter washing machine worth buying?
Usually, yes. On this list every confirmed inverter model from Samsung, IFB and LG has a 10 year motor warranty, against five years for the two confirmed non inverter Whirlpool machines. Brands also claim quieter, more efficient running.
What is the difference between product warranty and motor warranty?
The product (comprehensive) warranty, usually two to four years, covers the whole machine except listed plastics and consumables. The motor warranty, often 10 years, covers only the motor as a part. LG and Bosch charge for visits and labour during the motor only years.
What should I check before ordering a washing machine online?
Measure the space including door or lid clearance and about 10 cm behind; check the tap and drain positions; look for the BEE star label on the listing (it is mandatory); confirm the seller and warranty terms; ask about free installation and what extra fittings cost; and compare final prices rather than discounts off MRP.
How long does a washing machine last in India?
Manufacturers do not state an expected life. The only official figure we found is a nine year "average life" that India's electronic waste guidelines assign to washing machines for recycling targets, reported by PTI in December 2024. It is a benchmark, not a promise; motor warranty length and spare parts support are better guides.
Which detergent should I use?
Use detergent made for your machine type. LG, Samsung and IFB all specify front load or low suds detergent for front loads, and top load or low suds detergent for top loads. LG and IFB say not to use soap flakes or granulated soap powder, and Bosch's warranty does not cover damage from unsuitable detergent.
How we chose
We built a pool of 20 washing machines that are on sale now, from brands that publish an Indian product page for each model. Specifications come from those manufacturer pages and spec sheets. Where a brand leaves something out, we used the retailer listing and say so on the product. Prices are the ones we read on the retailer's own listing on 25 October 2026.
We then ranked the machines on six things:
Capacity for the price. kilos of drum per rupee, within each type
Motor and efficiency. inverter or not, BEE star rating, spin speed
Warranty. years of comprehensive cover and years on the motor, as the brand states them
Features that solve Indian problems. hard water treatment, a heater, low water pressure filling, rat protection
Support. spare parts commitments and the brand's own sales and service presence
Confidence in the data. models with conflicting or missing official specs were marked down or excluded
We have not tested these machines in a lab or at home, and we do not give star ratings or scores. The rankings are editorial judgements based on specifications, warranty terms and verified prices. Brand balance played no part, which is why four Whirlpool machines made the list.
Machines we looked at and left out: Haier's HWM65 and HWM70 top loads and HW80 front load, Godrej WTEON ALP 70, realme TechLife and Motorola 7 kg (no live brand product page for the model); Voltas Beko WTL6504UEA (its official warranty line contradicts the retailer listing); Whirlpool Supreme Care 7012 (brand and retailer disagree on spin, steam and warranty); LG T70VBMB1Z (₹1,500 more than the Samsung for no clear gain); IFB Diva GXN 6010 (same cabinet as the 7 kg Serena with a slower spin).
